Eyelash extensions and lash lift treatments are safe and non-invasive when performed by a professional. However, certain medical conditions and eye sensitivities can affect the safety and results of these procedures. Below is a list of contraindications that should be considered before booking your appointment.

🚫 Contraindications for Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash extensions require a strong, healthy lash base to ensure safe application and long-lasting results. If you experience any of the following eye conditions, skin issues, or medical concerns, eyelash extensions may not be suitable for you.
Medical Conditions & Eye Disorders
- Recent eye surgery (minimum 6 months healing time required)
- Glaucoma or other severe ocular conditions
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Corneal disease
- Trichotillomania (compulsive pulling of eyelashes)
- Blepharitis (chronic inflammation of the eyelid)
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Alopecia (causing lash loss)
- Hay fever & severe allergies (leading to excessive eye rubbing or watering)
Skin & Sensitivity Issues
- Eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis around the eye area
- Demodicosis (overpopulation of Demodex mites in hair follicles)
- Hordeolum (styes) – painful bumps on the eyelid due to bacterial infection
- Dry eye syndrome or excessively watery eyes
- Contact lens wearers (must remove lenses before the procedure)

A lash lift is a gentle treatment, but it involves the use of chemical solutions to curl and set the natural lashes. Certain eye conditions, allergies, or sensitivities may affect the results or cause discomfort.
Who Should Avoid a Lash Lift?
- Recent eye infections or surgery (must wait at least 6 months)
- Allergy to perming solutions or lash lifting products
- Chronic eye conditions (Blepharitis, Keratitis, Uveitis)
- Very sensitive or watery eyes (may interfere with the setting process)
- Trichotillomania (compulsive lash pulling)
- Styes or cysts on the eyelid
- Dry eye syndrome
- Weak, brittle, or sparse natural lashes
- Skin trauma, burns, cuts, or swelling around the eyes
- Severe skin conditions near the eyes (Dermatitis, Xanthelasma, Syringoma)
- Pregnancy (first trimester) – due to hormonal changes affecting results
- Chemotherapy patients (consult a doctor before booking)
- Use of prescribed medicated eye drops
- Thyroid medication users (may affect lash curling results)
